THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

No matter what some might say, it is not a backhanded compliment to say that RUNAWAY TRAIN might be the best film produced by the prolific Cannon Group. The New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles has an odd double feature in the 2014 dystopian action flick SNOWPIERCER at 7:30 pm and Tobe Hooper’s wonderfully over-the-top sci-fi/horror hybrid LIFEFORCE at 10:05 pm. Both films are screening from 35mm prints. Tickets and info can be found here.
The utterly charming, funny, and exciting THE PRINCESS BRIDE is screening from a 35mm print at the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, MA at 7:00 pm and 9:15 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
Guillermo del Toro’s superior comic book adaptations HELLBOY and HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY are playing a double feature at the Alamo Drafthouse in New Braunfels, TX at 6:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
There are few absolute rules to how to live one’s life, but one of those rules is that you never pass up the chance to see THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE screen from a 35mm print. It is playing at the Metrograph in New York at 4:30 pm and 9:15 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
