Miriam Sullivan…
I knew that wasn’t necessarily blood that Miriam had been left lying in. As I watched the kids playing catch I wondered if one of them would become another hit and run victim of Richard Horne’s. Instead they find none other than his previous victim crawling her way to help. Did her trailer explode? I guess we’ll find out next week.
The Becky Situation…
Fueled by cocaine? Fueled by heartbreak? What makes someone so frantic that they would throw their own mother off the hood of a car? Being in a David Lynch production certainly will. Once again Bobby Briggs exudes responsibility, channeling his rebellious nature into parenting. He knows first hand that these are his daughter’s lost years. He even held his cool as Shelly not so discreetly got intimate with her current lover. Did you catch that the woman who Steven was cheating on Becky with was Donna Hayward’s daughter?
The Situation Outside The Diner…
We go from one set of parents being very responsible to another set of parents showing almost no responsibility what so ever. Oddly, both situations involve the offspring with a gun. The weirdness that ensues afterward reminded me of One-Armed Mike’s confrontation with Laura and Leland in FIRE WALK WITH ME. “A thread will be torn”(?)
Gordon Cole and the FBI…
Much like the Bowie scene from FIRE WALK WITH ME, Gordon and Albert with Diane in tow experience something supernatural and are naturally not too surprised by it. Would Gordon have been sucked into the vortex had Albert not pulled him back? It may have been more interesting if he was. I did find it rather odd to see David Lynch’s character dealing with one of the many bizarre situations that he puts just about all of his characters through. It would certainly be interesting to see Gordon Cole in The Black Lodge. How did Ruth’s body get onto the site?
My Log Is Afraid Of Fire…
Well naturally piece of wood would be, wouldn’t it? Will Hawk and Truman end up in the Black Lodge as well? I see kind of a collision course occurring, bringing all of the characters and plot threads together. Could they all meet at or just outside the lodge? Only time will tell. Is there even time in the lodge? What can possibly tell this?
“I can’t wait to kill this guy…”
Yet again a character’s motivations are led by a dream. That had to be the most tension filled cereal eating scene ever. I love it when David Lynch shows the “bad guys” freaking the fuck out! It never seems to get old. A $30 million dollar check and a cherry pie. Damn fine…
