Here we go again.
Surely you don’t need to be reminded, but 2022 was a tough year. Feels like there’ve been a whole bunch of those lately, doesn’t it? You really start to feel the weight of it when you’re compiling, in my case, or reading over, in your case, a big memorial post like this one. It’s worth doing, for sure, in both of our cases but it’s not easy. Take heart: We can get through it, together. Just warning you.
This is going to hurt…
Every year, Daily Grindhouse reserves space for a moment to remember many of the notable people we lost that year and to reflect upon what the creations of their lives meant to us. Usually, we post it on the last day of the year, just because to post it any sooner would be kind of a jinx. No website wants to have to update a post with corrections, but most of all not with updates about fresh losses. This year, we are defying superstition and releasing this to the world before 2022 is done, hoping against hope that we don’t have to add anything before 2023 rolls in. We are doing it for only one reason: Normally this feature, if only up for a day, gets swept away and overlooked, and we don’t want anyone’s memory to be overlooked if we have anything to say about it. We aim to remember not only the most famous, but also as many quote-unquote bit players and below-the-line names as we can, along with folks from entertainment areas other than film and sports, like comics and fine art. As always, if anyone notices any names we may have failed to include, please drop us a note and we will happily and speedily update.
