HEY BASTARDS.
Every time I see a piece of news about late summer and fall Blu-ray releases a little part of my wallet weeps. It is going to be a costly few months and shit like this only reinforces that opinion. A couple of really cool nuggets have come in for the E.T. and JAWS releases. First up, and coming soon, is JAWS.
UNIVERSAL has released a new trailer for the release which gives you a rundown of all the features of the new disc (things like 6x resolution upgrade, the new 7.1. audio mix, new documentary about the film, and so on).
Here is a full list of features:
All-new The Shark is Still Working: The Impact & Legacy of Jaws feature-length documentary
Two-hour The Making of Jaws documentary
Behind-the-scenes featurettes:
– Jaws: The Restoration
– From the Set

One thing that just needs to be said about this release and the E.T. release, hell… even the JURASSIC PARK trilogy release, is that Spielberg really needs to start doing some commentaries. I am not sure why he has such reluctance to that idea. He has told long stories about the chance to learn from those he idolized and how he could listen to them for hours, you would think that would lend itself to the free-forum he would have on commentaries to provide that type of experience to those that hold his film in such high regard. Anyway, enough jibber-jabber, back on track.
Next up is a cool breakdown of the special features that are going to be available on the E.T. Blu-ray, along with some packaging that instantly brought me back to seeing this film for the first time. Fuck, I hope this actually exists. Look at this…
I refuse to believe that is real until I see something more formal than a yYoutube video or it magically appears on my doorstop (looking at you Universal). Hey, a kid can dream right?
