It was right around this time John Carpenter started sliding down a slippery slope. His VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED remake pretty much blows. The cinematography has a surreal aspect I kinda dig, but that’s all I got on the positive end.
The casting is…interesting: Christopher Reeve, Michael Pare, Mark Hamill, and…Kirstie Alley?!!
Long story short:
Pre-VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED – THEY LIVE, PRINCE OF DARKNESS, BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, THE THING, HALLOWEEN.
Post-VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED – ESCAPE FROM LA, VAMPIRES, GHOSTS OF MARS, THE WARD.
Let’s pretend CHRISTINE didn’t happen. It throws my equation off.
