Asian critics may mark this as the beginning of the end for legendary director Chang Cheh, but for me this represents the start of Cheh’s best period of films. From 1974 to 1982 nearly everything he did was hyper-stylized and featured over the top action. This is the fourth film in Cheh’s Shaolin series and stars an ass-kicking Fu Sheng (Yang Liu-lang from 8 DIAGRAM POLE FIGHTER). The Master Killer himself, Gordon Liu also appears in the film in a smaller role (only his third film). Dig it, Bastards.
