HEY BASTARDS.
I was down for BEVERLY HILLS COP IV when it was going to be a gritty and tough cop film with some humor in spots. In my head I pictured a tired Axel Foley, kicked off the force, working as a private investigator and slumming for a paycheck with any shit job he could find that would put some bills in his pocket. You know what they say; wish in one hand and shit in the other. COP IV was kicking around for a while and had nearly as many starts and stops as GHOSTBUSTERS 3, the COP sequel was put in the trash heap earlier this year but that doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of Foley.
Vulture is reporting that a television series based on the COP films is moving forward and is actively being pitched to networks. Eddie Murphy is teaming up with THE SHIELD creator Shawn Ryan and Sony Pictures Television on the adaptation, and Murphy has expressed a desire to show up in the pilot and then to appear on the show “here and there” throughout the rest of the series.
Ryan being on board gives me a little hope but the odds of this working considering Murphy’s career decisions are about as good as John Landis (BEVERLY HILLS COP III) having a hand on the potential show.
SEE YOU ON FORTY DEUCE,

Honestly I was happy to hear this news. Eddie needs to be working with talented, ballsy creators who will challenge him, and Shawn Ryan is a whole lot closer to Walter Hill or John Landis than Brett Ratner or Brian Robbins. I highly doubt that this particular project will ever actually happen, but if it does I think it’s worth a shot. Better the fuck this than another SHREK sequel.
Why create BEVERLY HILLS COP tv show where Eddie Murphy shows up “here and there”.
