I count Chicago as my home town, so even though I no longer live there, I am always happy to see a new film festival popping up there on the calendar.
The FANTASTIC FANTASY FILM FESTIVAL will take place Sunday, March 26th, running from noon until 11:00 pm at the Brew & View at the Vic Theater (3145 N. Sheffield Ave., Chicago, IL). The lineup is enough to make an ’80s kid drool.
Noon: Kicking it all off is a 35th anniversary screening of Jim Henson’s THE DARK CRYSTAL.
2:00 pm: The inspired lunacy and killer Queen soundtrack of Mike Hodges’ adaptation of FLASH GORDON.
4:20 pm: Ridley Scott’s director’s cut of LEGEND.
6:30 pm: Want to see Dolph Lundgren strut around mostly naked on the big screen while the crazy talented Frank Langella somehow finds subtlety playing a living skeleton? Of course you do! You get your chance when MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE has its 30th anniversary screening.
8:30 pm: David Lynch’s flawed, but fascinating attempt at bringing DUNE to life.
Kara Zediker of Star Trek: Enterprise, Charmed, and Hercules is the special guest. She will be doing a Q&A and available for free autographs and picture taking.
Presale tickets are $13 and can be purchased here. Day of show tickets can be purchased at the door for $15. For full details, check out the FANTASTIC FANTASY event page.
