In 2001, Fred Vogel made a film he hoped would raise some cash for future projects. A “snuff film” shot on home video would be relatively inexpensive, not to mention provide a vehicle to showcase a talent for unbelievably realistic blood and gore.
Little did Fred know at the time, he was creating a genre phenomenon.
AUGUST UNDERGROUND is about as hardcore as you can get, Bastards – that is, without watching actual footage of people dying, or maybe the full-length cut of THE STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL. It is a cinematic hammer right between the eyes, and not to be taken lightly.
Ten years later, AUGUST UNDERGROUND still sets the standard for celluloid sickness.
MORDUM followed in 2003, and the trilogy was completed in 2007 with PENANCE. Amazingly, ToeTag upped the ante in both sequels.
Ready to test your mettle? Give AUGUST UNDERGROUND a shot.
Fair warning: You’re probably not ready.
