Ambitious, bold and happily Rated R. The only way to bring Robert E. Howard’s tough as nails barbarian from a prehistoric age to the screen. Director John Milius skimps a bit on the sword and sorcery trappings that were so dominant in the original Howard tales, but his attention to heavy sword action and the amazing set designs of Rob Cobb make this one hell of an adventure tale. The athletic cast did most of their own stunts, an impressive feat when you consider the swords they are wielding are as heavy as they look. And say what you will, but Arnold is perfectly cast in the lead slot. Followed by the cheesy but fun CONAN THE DESTROYER.
