THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

Would you like to see a double feature of EVIL DEAD 2 and ARMY OF DARKNESS? This is a redundant question, because of course you do! The Alamo Drafthouse in Winchester, VA is giving you that chance at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
David Cronenberg’s uneven, but ultimately mind-blowing (I’m sorry—obligatory pun) SCANNERS is showing at the Academy Theater in Portland, OR at 4:55 pm and 9:35 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
The under-appreciated JOHN CARPENTER’S VAMPIRES is screening from a 35mm print at the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers, NY at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
The New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles is showing a double feature of Klaus Kinski sci-fi oddities. At 7:30 pm is ANDROID and at 9:35 pm is CREATURE. Both films are screening from 35mm prints with the directors of each doing a Q&A. Tickets and info can be found here.
It is hard to decide which film is Frank Henenlotter’s best, but I tend to lean toward BRAIN DAMAGE. It is playing at the Alamo Drafthouse in Omaha, NE at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
The Hollywood Theatre in Portland, OR is doing a rare 35mm screening of LADY KUNG FU at 7:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
