THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York is doing a series of Robert De Niro films through next week. Today’s films consist of two of the actor’s collaborations with Brian De Palma and two of his films with Martin Scorsese. De Palma’s absurdist satire HI, MOM! is at 2:00 pm and his heightened gangster film classic THE UNTOUCHABLES is at 4:00 pm. At 6:30 pm, Scorsese’s dark comedy masterpiece THE KING OF COMEDY is being shown, followed by his underrated remake of CAPE FEAR at 8:45 pm. Aside from THE KING OF COMEDY, all films are 35mm screenings. Tickets and info can be found here.
THE CURE IN ORANGE, a concert film of the band’s 1986 performance has only ever been released on VHS and Laserdisc. The Trylon Microcinema in Minneapolis is showing the film at 7:00 pm and 9:30 pm from a rare 35mm print. Tickets and info can be found here.
MULTIPLE MANIACS, John Waters’ twisted piece of midnight cinema, is showing at the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers, NY at 8:00 pm (that early showtime just seems wrong). The screening is going to be preceded by a livestream Q&A with Waters. Tickets and info can be found here.
Doc Films on the University of Chicago campus is showing Walter Hill’s lean, mean 1992 action film TRESPASS at 7:00 pm and the terrific Bob Hoskins-starring gangster film THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY at 9:30 pm. Both films are being screened from 35mm prints. Tickets are $5 at the door for each film. Info can be found here.
