EXCLUSIVE COVER REVEAL: ‘GUMMO’ MEETS ‘THE CRAFT’ IN KAYLI SCHOLZ’S ‘SAINT GRIT’

The grindhouse has long been the refuge of audacity. Time was you’d never see a door-splinter eyeball gouging or necrophilic parasitic twin getting its fuck on in a theater in middle America, but damned if The Roxxy wasn’t going to serve you up ZOMBI 2 and BASKET CASE and be damn proud of it. That’s a legacy we’re proud to keep alive here at The Daily Grindhouse, and we’re doubling down on it today with an exclusive cover reveal of the book they don’t want you to see: Kayli Scholz’s Saint Grit from Ghoulish Books. That’s right: while others might shy away from the sight of Satan going down– and not in a Book of Revelation sort of way– we’re all too happy to spring this delight (by artist Alejandra Oviedo) onto the world.

As Ghoulish founder/CEO/publisher/chief ghoul Max Booth III tells us about the book, “One brooding summer, Nadine Boone pricks herself on a poisonous manchineel tree in the Florida back country. Upon self-orgasm, Nadine conjures a witch that she calls Saint Grit. Pitched as Gummo meets The Craft, Saint Grit grows inside of Nadine over three decades, wreaking repulsive havoc on a suspicious cast of characters in a small town known as Sugar Bends.” Booth adds, “The Uncensored Cover version of the book will be available exclusively through Kickstarter, our webstore, and hidden under the table at physical events. (The Kickstarter launches January 5th.) The Censored Cover will be available through online retailers and bookstores.”

Kayli Scholz writes and consumes horror in the wilds of Florida. Her short fiction has appeared in Dark Moon Digest and A Formal Invitation. She’s currently working on her next book. Saint Grit from Ghoulish Books is her first novel.

The book is currently available exclusively at Ghoulish Books; and let’s be honest– you want that cover on your coffee table the next time you have those guests over. Or in your lap at the doctor’s office. Or open during Sunday services. Just kidding. Really. Please, don’t take this book to church.

Your doctor’s office is probably fine, though.
