The crew of United Planets Cruiser C57-D land on planet Altair IV to find only one girl in port, her cranky elitist father, a lost alien civilization, Robby the Robot and an invisible monster that has the habit of ripping humans to shreds. Where’s James T. Kirk when you need him?
Landmark sci-fi epic is the best looking genre film to come out of the 50s, supposedly two years in the making. Chock full of eye popping effects and imagery, including a robot that is now considered one of the most famous mechanical beings in cinema history. And that Id Monster is still damn scary, influencing some of today’s grand masters of horror.
