Before I deliver the goods on the headline above, let me just say that I think Guillermo del Toro’s AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS will get made. I think PACIFIC RIM is going to deliver some huge numbers at the box office and del Toro will finally be able to make the film on his own terms. That’s just me spit-balling, but it doesn’t take a huge stretch of the imagination to see that scenario playing out.
Okay, so we still have that little matter of the headline to deliver on.
According to Deadline, del Toro is jumping into bed with HBO and knocking boots on a TV series about “the worldwide search by a young doctor for the most evil sociopath that has ever lived. He is a 12-year-old boy, and the doctor’s decision to save his life has unwittingly unleashed a Pandora’s Box that leaves the doc battling to stop a plot of mass genocide.” Sounds hilarious. The series is based on a 18 volume manga and will be written by Steven Thompson (Dr. Who, Sherlock). del Toro plans on directing the pilot for the show which originally started as a feature at New Line but proved to be to big for a single film.
It’s a good time to be a fan of GDT, huh?
