HEY BASTARDS.
Well, we told you last week this show would be snatched up like donuts at the Detroit Police Department, and it looks like CBS did the snatchin’. Eddie Murphy and THE SHIELD creator Shawn Ryan were given the green light by CBS to bring the BEVERLY HILLS COP franchise to the small-screen with a pilot that will most likely end up in series commitment. Murphy and Ryan will executive produce, with Ryan also serving as showrunner. Murphy will appear as Axel Foley in the pilot and may appear from time to time but the series will focus on the son of Foley who is now working as a cop in Beverly Hills despite his father’s reputation.
I am warming to this project despite my outright disdain for it in the original reporting. It may be that I just want to see Murphy return to his former greatness, or it may be that I am looking to win the office pool on how long it will take Murphy to get the itch and appear as another character, preferably one that requires a fat-suit.
SEE YOU ON FORTY DEUCE,
G
