HEY BASTARDS.
Jose Padilha’s ROBOCOP remake just found its NOT Peter Weller. Deadline got the exclusive and is reporting that “MGM has closed its deal with Joel Kinnaman to play the title role in Robocop, the remake that is being directed by helmer of two action packed Elite Squad films. Strike Entertainment partners Eric Newman and Marc Abraham are producing. Josh Zetumer wrote the script.”
I am a huge fan of Padilha’s ELITE SQUAD films and his shooting style is going to work well for the ROBOCOP universe. It will be curious to see if the comedic edge that is in the first film is used in the remake. As for Kinnaman… well… he is going to have to turn in one helluva of badass performance to even come close to touching Weller’s stamp on the justice seeking cyborg. He’s got the jaw bone for it though. No reports on how well my man can spin a shooter.
SEE YOU ON FORTY DEUCE,
G
