Remember when New Year’s Eve meant the world was ending? That was the paranoia we had in 1999 – Leonard Nimoy even hosted a “survival guide” about it. And Y2k paranoia was the subject of 1998’s Y2K YEAR 2000, a short film shot on 16mm from Emerson College student Michael Atlan, about a survivalist who prepares for the worst in essentially a low-budget short version of the “Twilight Zone” episode “The Shelter.”
If you’re looking for something a bit more festive and in tandem with the holiday, fine. Here’s Popeye taking his girl (Shelley Duvall) out for New Year’s festivities.
