With THE MUPPETS currently raping your local Megaplex, I thought now would be a good time to reflect upon when Jim Henson ruled the earth.
It was 1982, I was about 8, and Jim Henson proceeded to scare the living dogshit out of me with his puppet classic THE DARK CRYSTAL. Between the androgynous Gelflings, to the creepy-as-fuck Skeksis and Mystics, Jim created a world that would haunt kids for years. And I mean that as a compliment.
More classics would follow, like THE MUPPET MOVIE. And some crap would follow, like MUPPET TREASURE ISLAND. And though nothing could compare to LET MY PUPPETS COME, Jim Henson had nonetheless carved out a legacy, both in puppetry as well as triumphant beards.
