2012 is off to a fan-fucking-tastic start. Yesterday we had the news of the BATTLE ROYALE Blu-ray from Anchor Bay, this morning we had the news of the big FRANKENSTEIN and DRACULA restoration going on at Universal, and today we have some Australian sexploitation. It’s not often that we double up on the Pick of the Week, but frankly; John D. Lamond demands a double. AUSTRALIA AFTER DARK is the first film from Lamond, it’s fun but both this and ABC’S OF LOVE AND SEX are surprisingly tame compared to his later stuff. Once he knocked out these two flicks the shackles were off and the dude just went full tilt tit (with an occasional splatter of blood here and there). Intervision (backed by Severin) did a nice release for both of these titles and gave each one a commentary track with Lammond and Mark Hartley of NOT QUITE HOLLYWOOD.

This flick really didn’t work for me. I really dug the way they used VHS in this and in a RINGU world that ain’t easy. It just felt too typical of the genre which makes it ultimately more predictable than it should be. A lot of you fans of Japanese horror may dig it though, so here it is.

How could a low budget Sasquatch film NOT be on The Wall? We haven’t seen this yet but… order up suckers!

This flick is crazy as hell. I admit I was sucked in by the trailer, fast action and lots of bullets does a lot to drag me to a flick. It didn’t disappoint for a single moment.

This is a double cheeseburger and milkshake movie. It’s a fucking pack of Twinkies, pure unadulterated junk food that I ate like the fat bastard I am. Trust me.
