KILLER SLUGS, MAN-IN-SUIT,
DRIVE-INS FROM HELL, AND JOE
PISCOPO, THIS WEEK ON THE WALL!
Hey bastards, welcome back to The Wall. There is a shit-ton of stuff dropping this week so the opinions are going to be short and sweet but still full of the vulgarity you have come to expect from the Head Bastard. Truth be told, I was up until 2:AM last night working my way through the STAR WARS Blu-ray set. That is not going to be reviewed on the site because content wise it just doesn’t fit but let me put this out there: BUY THAT FUCKER! It is amazing. Yes it sucks that the originals aren’t included, yes it sucks that Lucas can’t stop dicking with the original trilogy, but it also sucks when it rains right in the middle of your BBQ and just like Lucas changing who shoots first, there isn’t fuck-all you can do about it. That set is simply put one of the coolest things that has hit my Blu-ray player in a long, long time. Having said that: Fuck you George Lucas.
Now… onto the show.

DG PICK OF THE WEEK!
Not since SQUIRM and ALLIGATOR have I dug a nature on the loose film so goddamn much. This is from Roger Corman’s New World Pictures and it is the fucking balls. Slugs with teeth that rack up the body count quick! These slimy jerks have infested an entire town; they are on the floor, in the sink, even in the toilet bowl (queue tight sphincter now). This film is bloody, funny, and actually (believe it or not) has some moments of genuine suspense. At $8.99 this is a must own even if it is light on features but seriously… how bad do you need to hear someone waxing poetic on killer slugs?
There’s no difference between this release and the one that came out a few years ago but the bottom line is it’s Trenchard-Smith and this is Daily Grindhouse so he gets included by default. I love the hell out of this flick, easily in my top 5 BTS films.
I saw this back in the late 80’s and it kind of creeped me out. It’s a really effective southern-gothic horror yarn and an early entry from Bill Condon (GODS AND MONSTERS, CANDYMAN: FAREWELL TO THE FLESH). Image’s Midnight Madness Series is getting a work out this week. Ahhh… ’tis the season.
Larry Cohen + Horror + Insanity = Buy this fucker.
Never heard of it… but that title fucking RAWKS!
Daphne Zuniga’s (SPACEBALLS) first role was in this nutty little horror title that is much better than it deserves to be. Am I pervert or did you also think that was a giant pink vibrator when you first saw the cover art?
I haven’t seen this flick yet but it has a half baby legs/half hand carrying a pair of scissors on the cover in a fashion that suggests some murderous intentions so I am in.
I can remember the box art like it was yesterday, but I never got around to catching this one. Not for nothin’ but it does have a pretty big following.
I was just saying yesterday I wished someone would release a Blu-ray of that Williams/Piscopo classic…. tha fuck!? Curiosity demands I see this immediately.
This flick is one nutty bastard. I only watched this because I was afraid if I didn’t Grace Jones would come to my house, rape me, then eat me. I will purchase this for the same damn reason.
The Hammer and Zombies… done and done.
Moe just watched this flick and dug the hell out of it.
MAN IN SUIT! MAN IN SUIT!
Director Penelope Spheeris (DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIATION 1&2, WAYNES WORLD) gives this film a very dark edge that would have been Hollywood slick in another directors hands. Sheen and Spheris go together like hookers and hotel rooms.
Our Featured Filmmaker Eric Stanze drops RATLINE today. The full DG review is coming in a couple of days so stay tuned. Support indie-horror and buy this bastard!
I have two fictional heroes: Richard Stark’s Parker and Mickey Spillane’s Mike Hammer. Spillane’s Hammer is the definition of tough as nails. This series doesn’t always work, but it’s always cool as hell to see one of your heroes come to life. Unless of course your hero is Superman and you just watched Bryan Singer shit on it.
THAT’S IT FOR THIS WEEK BASTARDS…
Next week we have: BASKET CASE (blu), THE BLOOD TRILOGY (blu), THE GODFATHER OF GORE, and MIMIC: THE DIRECTORS CUT (blu).
Until then…
HERE’S TO GOOD WATCHING THIS WEEK…
SALUTE!
SEE YOU ON FORTY DEUCE,
G
