This year, January January’d harder than any January ever. While the inauguration and Trump’s first two weeks were unraveling, I found comfort in Mary Beth McAndrews’ directorial debut BYSTANDERS, penned by actor/screenwriter Jamie Alvey. It’s an empowering rape/revenge story that takes a hard left mid-way through and ends in engulfing flames. It’s right up my alley, and if you like entries such as MS. 45 and REVENGE, you might take to this ultra-indie gem. It skips the graphic rape and dives straight into the wonderfully grotesque mutilation of rapists. Score!

But that’s not the only horror movie of 2025 I’ve been dying to see. I’ve compiled a ranked list of the features I’m itching to witness, either on the big screen or in the comfort of my own home. There’s kick-ass robotics, death incarnate, a reboot, a reimagining of a classic, and what’s sure to become a new V-Day fave.
