Hey Bastards.
Steven Spielberg sat down with Empire and gave them an update on JURASSIC PARK 4 and INDY 5. Why? Because everyone in the world is clambering for another Indiana Jones flick after the massive cliffhanger the last one left us with. Will Indy be ass-raped by aliens? Will he finally come to his senses and kill his son and offer him to his new alien gods? Only time will tell…
On JURASSIC 4: “The screenplay is being written right now by Mark Protosevich. I’m hoping that will come out in the next couple of years. We have a good story. We have a better story for four than we had for three…”
Protosevich’s work includes writing credits like THE CELL, I AM LEGEND, THOR, not bad stuff… not great but not bad. I love this franchise, even though neither sequel works all the time they both have their moments. Really curious to see what Protosevich can muster with this story.
On INDY 5: “You have to ask George Lucas. George is in charge of breaking the stories. He’s done it on all four movies. Whether I like the stories or not, George has broken all the stories. He is working on Indy V. We haven’t gone to screenplay yet, but he’s working on the story. I’ll leave it to George to come up with a good story.”
“Breaking the stories”? I’ll say. He has broke everything he has touched since RETURN OF THE JEDI. The guy has done amazing things for cinema, he has introduced enhancements when it comes to the sound and visuals of the entire experience but he has done fuck-all for stories. The last Indy film blew dogs. As much as I dig the idea of being able to go see a new Indy adventure on the screen, if it means it is anything remotely close to CRYSTAL SKULL, I’ll pass on that. Thanks but no thanks. If Spielberg and Lucas both feel that the last film was good, the last thing I want is another entry.
Which lead us to Steve’s opinion of said film: “I’m very happy with the movie. I always have been… I sympathize with people who didn’t like the MacGuffin because I never liked the MacGuffin. George and I had big arguments about the MacGuffin. I didn’t want these things to be either aliens or inter-dimensional beings. But I am loyal to my best friend. When he writes a story he believes in – even if I don’t believe in it – I’m going to shoot the movie the way George envisaged it. I’ll add my own touches, I’ll bring my own cast in, I’ll shoot the way I want to shoot it, but I will always defer to George as the storyteller of the Indy series. I will never fight him on that.”
In the words of Charlie Brown: Uhg.
SEE YOU ON FORTY DEUCE,
G

I think the plot will be unoriginal for this new movie. What could be changed from the last 3? I mean, they’re brilliant movies but I think Jurassics time should stay.. Jurassic.. With these movies. I still love them and they’re still great to watch .
As for Indiana Jones, I feel the same way towards it. The movies before were good to watch too, but what more could be done? Mr. Jones has already been everywhere he could possibly go.
Well Mr. jones don’t have anywhere else to go…but to the city of Atlantis where they find more interdimensional beings -__-
I would, however, would like to see Jurassic Park 4 since the last one sorta left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
