THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

 

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 7, 2017 (All show times are local)

 

Quad Cinema in New York is showing the underrated 1988 action flick SHAKEDOWN at 9:15 pm. Go see Sam Elliott and Peter Weller fight their way through Manhattan in pursuit of dirty cops and crooks. This is a 35mm screening. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

The New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles is doing a double feature of early John Landis comedies. THE KENTUCKY FRIED MOVIE plays at 7:30 pm and NATIONAL LAMPOON’S ANIMAL HOUSE plays at 9:25 pm. Both films are being screened from 35mm prints. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

 

Brian De Palma’s landmark adaptation of Stephen King’s CARRIE is showing at the Alamo Drafthouse in Omaha, NE at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

The Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers, NY is screening Seijun Suzuki’s crazed Yakuza flick BRANDED TO KILL at 9:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

It’s Prince’s birthday. Celebrate the late musician with a screening of his concert film SIGN O’ THE TIMES at Trylon Microcinema in Minneapolis, MN at 9:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
