The existence of the sun and exposure to an unhealthy dose of radiation prove to be bad news for Dr. Gilbert McKenna when that bright orb in the sky causes the poor chump to turn into a deadly lizard man. Unlike other film’s of its ilk, there are no gypsies around to explain to the doc (and the audience) the reason for why this is happening, just an abundance of the ridiculous scientific mumbo jumbo that populates these grade-Z 1950s monster flicks.
Robert Clarke, the Bruce Campbell of his day (check out the guy’s filmography), directed and starred in this goofy schlockfest that oddly presents the typical monster on the loose plotline in a number of noir like settings. Clarke’s only stint as a director….a good thing.
