THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.
THURSDAY, JANUARY 4, 2018 (All show times are local)
The Belcourt Theatre in Nashville is screening Paul Thomas Anderson’s alternately exhilarating and exhausting BOOGIE NIGHTS from a 35mm print at 8:15 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
The world is in a dark place right now. How about just letting loose and having fun with The Beatles? A HARD DAY’S NIGHT is showing at the Metrograph in New York at 1:00 pm and 2:45 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
For more screwball comedy, how about catching BRINGING UP BABY at Row House Cinema in Pittsburgh at 2:45 pm? Need something a little more cathartic, like Brad Pitt killing Nazis? You can see INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
Doc Films on the University of Chicago campus is showing two very different, but equally great ’70s favorites. At 7:00 pm, catch LADY SNOWBLOOD and at 9:30 pm, CARRIE is screening from a 35mm print. Tickets for each movie is $5 at the door. All info can be found here.
The under-seen DAUGHTERS OF THE DUST is playing at Videology in Brooklyn at 9:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
