Robert Rodriguez shot this just after EL MARIACHI but it was released after DESPERADO. After talking to Carlos Guillardo, it wouldn’t surprise me at all to learn that this idea came about well before the character of El took shape. ROADRACERS doesn’t feel as complete as those films but it still has this rockabilly vibe to it that is all kinds of cool. Plus, having Salma Hayek in your flick is never a bad thing.
