Stephen King adaptions are notorious for being wildly inconsistent, a slight upgrade from their reputation pre-SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION. There were exceptions though and CHRISTINE proved that in the right hands, King’s material could lay some serious rubber across the screen. The scares start slow but run the red light to nightmares before it’s all over thanks to the mood and atmosphere created by director John Carpenter. This is one his of many classics from the 80s. Dig it, Bastards.
