Remember when Chucky from the CHILD’S PLAY series was scary? Me neither.
Of all the flicks, BRIDE OF CHUCKY was my favorite. It wasn’t scary, but it was pretty damn hilarious. When the follow-up SEED OF CHUCKY dropped, I was quick to check that bad boy out. Though it tried to stick to a winning formula, the movie was more of a snicker than a guffaw.
Looking at the trailer for CURSE OF CHUCKY, it looks like we’re jumping back in time to when the series was intended to elicit shocks and gasps.
I’m sorry, but there’s nothing about a three-foot plastic ginger that I find particularly scary. Unless they somehow manage to shrink Carrot Top.
And what’s with the CG face? When will this merry-go-round of shitty special effects end? Let me off, I’m gonna puke.
Give me BLACK DEVIL DOLL FROM HELL any day.
Of course, when all is said and done, I could be wrong.
