Larry Cohen is a legend of American independent filmmaking. A favorite among many around the DAILY GRINDHOUSE virtual offices, his filmography reads like the greatest hits of smart, genre cinema of the ’70s and ’80s: IT’S ALIVE, GOD TOLD ME TO, BONE, Q, SPECIAL EFFECTS, THE STUFF, MANIAC COP, BLACK CAESAR—the list could go on and on. The American premiere of KING COHEN, the terrific new documentary about Cohen’s career, was held at Fantastic Fest on Friday, September 22, 2017. After watching the film, news editor Matt Wedge, our resident Larry Cohen superfan, had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Cohen and KING COHEN director Steve Mitchell.
