THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

Happy Halloween! Since every town has a theater screening HALLOWEEN, I’ll let you find those on your own and focus on the other films you can see today.
The Chicago Film Society is screening the classic Val Lewton-produced THE SEVENTH VICTIM from a 35mm print at 7:30 pm on the campus of Northeastern Illinois University. Tickets are $5 at the door. All info can be found here.
CARNIVAL OF SOULS is playing at the American Cinematheque in Los Angeles with star Candace Hilligoss in person at 7:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
The Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers, NY is screening Peter Jackson’s classic splatter comedy DEAD ALIVE from a 35mm print at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
Catch the 4K restoration of James Whale’s horror comedy THE OLD DARK HOUSE at the Siskel Film Center in Chicago at 6:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
The New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles is doing a double feature of Polanski’s REPULSION at 7:30 pm and THE TENANT at 9:45 pm. Both films are being screened from 35mm prints. Tickets and info can be found here.
Sonny Chiba stars as WOLF GUY at the Senator Theatre in Baltimore at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
Two of David Cronenberg’s best are playing at the Trylon Cinema in Minneapolis. At 7:00 pm is THE FLY (screening from a 35mm print) and at 9:00 pm is RABID. Tickets and info can be found here.
George A. Romero’s DAY OF THE DEAD is screening from a 35mm print at the Alamo Drafthouse in San Francisco at 9:45 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
