THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2017 (All show times are local)
The Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn is showing Lewis Jackson’s terrific Christmas horror film CHRISTMAS EVIL at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
BATMAN RETURNS is screening from a 35mm print at the Music Box Theatre in Chicago at 2:15 pm and 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
Christopher Guest’s damn near perfect comedy BEST IN SHOW is screening from a 35mm print at the IFC Center in New York at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
Bonkers Taiwanese kung fu/horror flick WOLF DEVIL WOMAN is playing at the Alamo Drafthouse in Dallas at 9:15 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
On paper, MOONSTRUCK doesn’t exactly sound grindhouse, but it features a one-handed Nicolas Cage romancing Cher. If that doesn’t have crossover appeal to our readers, I’m not sure what does. It is screening from a 35mm print at the Museum of the Moving Image in Queens at 7:00 pm with screenwriter John Patrick Shanley on hand for a Q&A. Tickets and info can be found here.
Paul Morrissey’s goofy, bloody take on the Dracula legend BLOOD FOR DRACULA is screening from a 35mm print at the Metrograph in New York at 7:00 pm and 9:15 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
