[DAILY RUNDOWN] TODAY’S COOL SCREENINGS!

THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2017 (All show times are local)

The New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles is doing a double feature of arguably the best adaptations of A Christmas Carol. THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL screens at 7:30 pm and SCROOGED follows at 9:30 pm. Both films are screening from 35mm prints. Tickets and info can be found here.

BEAT THE DEVIL plays again at the Charles Theatre in Baltimore at 9:00 pm. Go see one of Humphrey Bogart’s rare comedic performances! Tickets and info can be found here.

The Museum of Modern Art in New York is screening THE BIG LEBOWSKI from a 35mm print at 1:30 pm. Because nothing says “modern art” like Jeff Bridges’ portrayal of The Dude. Tickets and info can be found here.

Two of the better Christmas-set, bawdy comedies out there, BAD SANTA and TRADING PLACES, are showing as a double feature at the American Cinematheque in Los Angeles at 7:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

Today is your last chance to catch GET OUT on the big screen at Quad Cinema in New York. It is playing at 11:15 am, 1:45 pm, 7:00 pm, and 9:15 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
