THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2018 (All show times are local)
Doc Films on the University of Chicago campus is showing the devious and entertaining double feature of HARD CANDY at 7:00 pm and PREVENGE at 9:30 pm. Tickets are $5 at the door for each film. All info can be found here.
I still consider it a damn shame that DEVIL IN A BLUE DRESS never sparked a series of films based on Walter Mosley’s detective novels. You can catch Easy Rawlins’ lone (to date) cinematic outing at the Hollywood Theatre in Portland OR at 7:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
Hal Hartley’s essential indie romantic dramedy TRUST is playing at Film Bar in Phoenix at 7:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
Violent cult western CUT-THROATS NINE is showing at Spectacle Screening Room in Brooklyn at 10:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
The Heights Theatre in Columbia Heights, MN is screening the Raymond Chandler adaptation MURDER, MY SWEET from a 35mm print at 7:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
There will be a glut of screenings of GROUNDHOG DAY tomorrow, so I sort of enjoy the slight unruliness of the Hollywood Palms Cinema in Naperville, IL for showing it a day early at 7:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
