It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

The Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn is screening Clive Barker’s NIGHTBREED from a 35mm print at 9:30 pm. This is a screening of the theatrical cut of the film. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

Martin Scorsese’s uncomfortable dark comedy THE KING OF COMEDY is showing in a 4K restoration at the Belcourt Theatre in Nashville at 7:20 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

Blaxploitation spoof favorite BLACK DYNAMITE is screening from a 35mm print at BAMcinématek in Brooklyn at 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON is showing at the Alamo Drafthouse in Dallas at 7:15 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

Quad Cinema in New York is showing two of the best erotic thrillers the genre has put forth. At 4:30 pm is Brian De Palma’s dizzying FEMME FATALE and at 9:00 pm, Lawrence Kasdan’s BODY HEAT is showing. Both films are being screened from 35mm prints. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

 

Little-seen spaghetti western GOD DOES NOT PAY ON SATURDAY is showing at the Spectacle Screening Room in Brooklyn at 10:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
