THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

FilmScene in Iowa City, IA will be turned into a MADHOUSE! when the original adaptation of PLANET OF THE APES plays there at 10:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

Do not miss the opportunity to see CANDYMAN screen from a 35mm print at BAMcinématek in Brooklyn at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

The Alamo Drafthouse in San Francisco is screening Panos Cosmatos’ unique and creepy BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW from a 35mm print at 10:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

 

Quad Cinema in New York is killing it with their programming this week. Catch Paul Verhoeven’s early thriller THE 4TH MAN at 6:25 pm and Alan Parker’s creepy, atmospheric ANGEL HEART at 8:30 pm. Both films are screening from 35mm prints. Tickets and info can be found here.

 

 

 

Chicago Film Society is screening John Huston’s bleak late-career boxing drama FAT CITY from a 35mm print on the campus of Northeastern Illinois University at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $7 at the door. All info can be found here.

 

 

Carl Dreyer’s classic silent horror VAMPYR is showing at the Joy Cinema and Pub in Tigard, OR at 9:15 pm. This is a free screening, but you must be 21 or over to attend. All info can be found here.
