[DAILY RUNDOWN] TODAY’S COOL SCREENINGS!

THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2018 (All show times are local)

Loopy erotic thriller WILD THINGS is screening from a 35mm print at the Metrograph in New York at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

It’s Valentine’s Day, so it only makes sense to catch the original MY BLOODY VALENTINE at FilmScene in Iowa City, IA at 10:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

Little-seen erotic horror flick NIGHT ANGEL is screening from a 35mm print at the Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

Under-appreciated crime drama SET IT OFF is showing at Laurelhurst Theater and Pub in Portland, OR at 9:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

We have reached the point where PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE is showing at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Edward D. Wood Jr. would be so proud. Catch it at 5:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

Speaking of movies featuring Bela Lugosi, THE DEVIL BAT is showing at the Joy Cinema and Pub in Tigard, OR at 9:15 pm. Admission is free, but you must be at least 21 to enter. All info can be found here.

Trashy early ’90s thriller favorite SINGLE WHITE FEMALE is screening from a 35mm print at Quad Cinema in New York at 4:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, MA is showing one of the only romantic comedies that I find truly entertaining. WHEN HARRY MET SALLY is screening from a 35mm print at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

If a poison-pen answer to the traditional romantic comedy is more your speed, Anthology Film Archives in New York is screening Albert Brooks’ uncomfortably funny MODERN ROMANCE from a 35mm print at 9:15 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

If you know of an under-the-radar theater or film society regularly putting together repertory screenings or special events, feel free to let me know on Twitter!
