THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

FRIDAY, MAY 5, 2017 (All show times are local)

Brian De Palma’s underrated sleaze classic erotic thriller BODY DOUBLE is playing at the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, MA at midnight. Go see one of the great American auteurs spin his magic on the big screen. Tickets and info can be found here.

STOP MAKING SENSE, the late Jonathan Demme’s concert film of The Talking Heads, is playing at Film Bar in Phoenix, AZ at 10:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

The Denver Film Society is showing modern monster movie classic TREMORS at 10:00 pm. Go watch Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward fight graboids! Tickets and info can be found here.

The midnight movie at Main Art Theatre in Royal Oak, MI just happens to be GREEN ROOM. You can go see one of the very best movies from last year back on the big screen, just remember to breathe as the tension ramps up. Tickets and info can be found here.

The wonderfully cynical, subversive takedown of ’80s greed, AMERICAN PSYCHO, is showing at Nitehawk Cinema in Brooklyn at midnight. Tickets and info can be found here.

ANOTHER EVIL, one of the more original squirm comedies of the past few years, plays at Cinefamily in Los Angeles. You can see this film—which I can best describe as CHUCK & BUCK meets POLTERGEIST—at 10:30 pm. Writer/director Carson Mell and stars Mark Proksch, Steve Zissis, and Dax Flame will be on hand to do a Q&A. Tickets and info can be found here.

CHOOSE ME, Alan Rudolph’s stylish neo-noir starring Geneviève Bujold, Lesley Ann Warren, and Keith Carradine, is screening from a 35mm print at Quad Cinema at 2:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

If you know of an under-the-radar theater or film society regularly putting together repertory screenings or special events, feel free to let me know on Twitter!
