THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.
MONDAY, JUNE 12, 2017 (All show times are local)
The Alamo Drafthouse in Dallas is screening the damn near perfect PREDATOR from a 35mm print at 9:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
AIR FORCE ONE was fun and silly when it saw it in its initial theatrical release. I honestly have no idea how it holds up twenty years later, but it should be worth a look. You can catch a 35mm screening of the film at the Whitney Humanities Center on the campus of Yale University in New Haven, CT at 7:00 pm. This is a free screening that is open to the public. All info can be found here.
As part of their Edgar Wright series, the Music Box Theatre in Chicago is screening THE WORLD’S END from a 35mm print at 9:45 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
GREEN ROOM was easily one of the best movies of last year. If you have somehow missed seeing it, you can catch it at the Alamo Drafthouse in Denver at 9:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
Quad Cinema in New York is screening Jonathan Demme’s sweet natured ensemble comedy CITIZEN’S BAND (a.k.a. HANDLE WITH CARE) from a 16mm print at 5:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
You can catch Humphrey Bogart in one of his best roles when KEY LARGO plays at the Laurelhurst Theater and Pub in Portland, OR at 7:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
Roger Moore tribute screenings keep popping up. You can catch him as James Bond in THE SPY WHO LOVED ME at the Senator Theatre in Baltimore, MD at 1:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
If you know of an under-the-radar theater or film society regularly putting together repertory screenings or special events, feel free to let me know on Twitter!
