[DAILY RUNDOWN] TODAY’S COOL SCREENINGS!

THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 12, 2017 (All show times are local)

The Castro Theatre in San Francisco is showing a double feature of ROCKY at 7:00 pm and CHUCK—the true story of the veteran prize fighter that inspired Stallone’s ROCKY script—at 9:15 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

With MEATBALLS, Bill Murray’s first leading role set the template for his screen persona for years to come. Catch it at BAMcinématek in Brooklyn at 4:30 pm, 7:00 pm, and 9:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

The fascinating alternative history film IT HAPPENED HERE is being screened from a 35mm print by the Chicago Film Society on the campus of Northeastern Illinois University. Tickets are $5 at the door. All info can be found here.

With I KNOW WHO KILLED ME, director Chris Sivertson created an American giallo starring Lindsay Lohan. It’s not surprising that it was dumped by the studio and audiences who did see it had no idea what to make of it, but trust me, it’s very entertaining. The Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn is screening it from a 35mm print at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

The Coen Brothers put their unique spin on The Odyssey with the very funny O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU? It is playing at the Kentucky Theatre in Lexington, KY at 1:00 pm and 7:15 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

Quad Theatre in New York is screening a brand new 2K restoration of Mario Bava’s gothic classic KILL, BABY…KILL! at 12:00 pm, 4:45 pm, and 9:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

ENTER THE DRAGON on the big screen? You know you have to be there for that. It’s playing at the Senator Theatre in Baltimore at 8:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

I caught JUNGLE TRAP at last year’s Fantastic Fest and can attest to how much fun there is to be had with it. You can see James Bryan’s “lost” film on the big screen at the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers, NY at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
