It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

Quad Cinema in New York wraps up their Mario Bava retrospective with a 35mm screening of his (co-) directorial debut HERCULES IN THE HAUNTED WORLD at 4:30 pm and his beautiful proto-giallo BLOOD AND BLACK LACE at 8:45 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
It’s Christmas in July as the Alamo Drafthouse in Dallas shows Joe Dante’s milestone horror-comedy GREMLINS at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.
Yukon Cult Cinema at the Yukon Tavern in Portland, OR is presenting a light-hearted summer movie called JAWS at 7:20 pm. This screening is being hosted by DAILY GRINDHOUSE‘s own Mac Bell and will include a “Crush it like Quint” contest with Narragansett Beer and free miniposters with art by DAILY GRINDHOUSE contributor Andy Vanderbilt. If you’ve ever wanted to see Michael Bay’s THE ISLAND, just go see PARTS: THE CLONUS HORROR instead. It is playing as the first half of a double feature at the New Beverly Cinema at 7:30 pm followed by 1973’s THE CLONES at 9:30 pm. Both films are being screened from 35mm prints.
