THE DAILY RUNDOWN is a quick look at just a few of the cool screenings and film events happening around the U.S. every day. It is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive list, but a sampling of the terrific genre cinema available to check out at your local art house, megaplex, film society, and repertory theaters.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 15, 2017 (All show times are local)

The Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn is screening Italian horror schlock classic DOCTOR BUTCHER, M.D. at 9:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

Mario Bava’s gorgeous, breakthrough Gothic horror film BLACK SUNDAY is screening at the Siskel Film Center in Chicago at 6:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

The Hollywood Theatre in Portland, OR is screening the early Jackie Chan kung fu favorite SNAKE IN THE EAGLE’S SHADOW from a 35mm print at 7:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

Stone classic THE WICKER MAN is playing at the Alamo Drafthouse in Winchester, VA at 7:30 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

BAMcinématek in Brooklyn is doing a Jonathan Demme retrospective this week. At 7:00 pm is a 35mm screening of his Roger Corman-produced vigilante drama FIGHTING MAD. Tickets and info for that film can be found here. At 9:15 pm is his directorial debut, the women-in-prison flick CAGED HEAT. Tickets and info for that film can be found here.

Don Siegel’s classic 1956 version of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS is playing at the Laurelhurst Theater and Pub in Portland, OR at 7:10 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

The Alamo Drafthouse in Austin is screening Brian De Palma’s masterful adaptation of Stephen King’s CARRIE from a 35mm print at 10:00 pm. Tickets and info can be found here.

Two of David Cronenberg’s most unsettling films are playing at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. At 4:30 pm, SHIVERS is screening. Tickets and info for that film can be found here. At 6:45 pm, VIDEODROME is being screened from a 35mm print. Tickets and info for that film can be found here.
