Another Featured Filmmaker, another Top 10 list. Dave Campfield (director of CAESAR & OTTO’S SUMMER CAMP MASSACRE) put together his Top 10 horror-comedies of all-time. Check it out, debate in the comments, and tell Campfield what your top picks are.
As for me? Tough to see ABBOT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN coming in at 8, that along with GHOST BREAKERS defined the entire genre. I think A&C is in the top spot, followed by GHOSTBUSTERS and then GHOST BREAKERS. That’s what makes this a good list though, the second I read it I wanted to talk about it. So here we go bastards….
TOP 10 HORROR-COMEDIES OF ALL-TIME!
10. Monster Man
A very underappreciated gem as far as I’m concerned.
9. Blood Car
A very low budget, but very high concept comedy-horror.
8. Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein
It was an influence on the Caesar & Otto comedy-horror
cross overs after all.
7. Return of the Living Dead
It always has Linnea Quigley, how could you go wrong?
6. Army of Darkness
By far the funniest of the Evil Dead trilogy.
A great balance of comedy and horror. I simply enjoyed the hell out of it.
4. Bubba Ho-Tep
Despite being completely off the wall, the film is masterfully written, and executed.
Far exceeded my expectations.
2. Shaun of the Dead
Edgar Wright is a genius.
What else can be said, that already hasn’t been?
Other than the effects being dated, even in its own time.
SEE YOU ON FORTY DEUCE,
