After dinosaurs and giant octopuses on New York City and San Francisco, special effects legend Ray Harryhausen and producer Charles H. Scheer decide to pick on the capital, putting it through an alien invasion in this classic 50s sci-fi flick. The climatic sequence, in which famous Washington landmarks are destroyed by crashing saucers, is one of the more iconic in the history of special effects films. B-movie making at its best.
