ELIZABETH OLSON TALKS “OLDBOY” REMAKE

HEY BASTARDS.

Spike Lee’s OLDBOY remake has it’s gyoza set on Elizabeth Olsen to play the female lead. Olsen is confirming that talks are ongoing and she sounds pretty excited at the prospect of being in the film.

“The original Oldboy is one of my favourite movies,” she said, “and I’m a big fan of Spike Lee. Huge fan of Spike Lee, he’s one of the best filmmakers around. He’s doing some tweaks to the original…”

“What’s really cool is the Korean movie is what people in the world of films would have seen,” she continues, “but a general American audience, I doubt they know the twists and turns of the original, so it’ll surprise them. And I think it’s such a good movie, so that would be cool.”

The original is one of my favorite films of the last ten years. It’s a visceral piece of filmmaking that we don’t see much of these days, I question though whether Spike Lee can make this thing work. I just don’t think he’s the right person for this kind of film. Could be wrong, and here’s hoping I am.

Mark Protosevich has penned the script which is using influences from both the original film and the manga, Lee is currently doing some rewrites.
