ENZO G. CASTELLARI MAKING WESTERN; TARANTINO AND FRANCO NERO TO CAMEO

WHAT’S DOIN’, BASTARDS?

Enzo G. Castellari is one of the greats of grindhouse cinema; KEOMA, THE HEROINE BUSTERS, THE BIG RACKET, he just knew how to put together films that delivered the goods. I write “knew” only because I haven’t seen anything he has done since HAMMERHEAD (1990). In the 80s though, he jumped around the B-movie scene and produced films that ranged from bad to worse but because of his distinct style you still knew it was a Castellari film which is why I have always dug him. And even at the age of 74, he isn’t done yet.

Castellari has been talking for some time about a project called THE BADLANDERS. At various points it was to star Liam Neeson, Ethan Hawke, and even Mickey Rourke. It looks like we can add two more names to the guessing game. The Hollywood Reporter has a story stating that Castellari has been promised by Quentin Tarantino and Franco Nero (who starred in KEOMA) that they would be making an appearance in the project. Tarantino has two speeds when it comes to acting: okay (FROM DUSK TILL DAWN) and terrible (everything else). Even something in between would get a pass in my boat. As for Nero, he just has to show up to be cool.

We’ll keep you updated when we see more movement.

LOCKED AND LOADED,

MR. SIX
