Seventh and final entry in Hammer’s Frankenstein series is notable for being director Terence Fisher’s final film and the last gothic flavored horror outing produced by the studio. Peter Cushing is back for his sixth go-around as the good doctor, creating yet another monster while acting as head surgeon in an insane asylum. The monster, played by David “Darth Vader” Prowse, is particularly horrific in this one. A bit gorier than usual, even by Hammer standards. A fitting end to the series.
