In the Pete Walker filmography, HOUSE OF WHIPCORD represents some of his best work, though Walker never had a film that I would consider a home-run, they each had their own atmosphere and style. Walker almost seemed like a director trapped in the confines of genre cinema and because of this he was largely ignored and tossed aside by critics. He certainly deserved better.
