THE SHORT FILM OF THE WEEK IS ‘HUMBUG’

We are constantly looking for new and different films when it comes to bringing you the best in genre entertainment. Short films are often where you find the most exciting new filmmakers taking chances, yet most audiences don’t seek them out. With that in mind, we will be showcasing a short film each week in an effort to give a signal boost to shorts we enjoy. This week’s short is HUMBUG.

HUMBUG - Blood Splatter

While it leans a little more to the comedy side of the horror-comedy genre, 2016’s HUMBUG is still a fun and goofy treat with a surprisingly effective gross-out sequence (aside from someone being force-fed egg nog through a funnel) that places it in grindhouse territory.

Poking fun equally at those who hate Christmas with excessive vitriol and those who love it like it’s the greatest day of the year and cannot understand why anyone is turned off by their crazed joy, it takes the conflict between those two points to its logical extreme. The tone may be a little broad, but the central message sticks that it is easy to find both sides of the Christmas conflict to be annoying as hell and that they actually deserve each other.
