WHAT’S DOIN’, BASTARDS?
I am probably not the best asshole to post this trailer since I have yet to see a Stephen Chow film that I truly dug. They all have fleeting moments of cool but they are quickly trampled by too much CGI and overacting. I can appreciate the living cartoons he’s making but not enough to embrace them. Anyway, Chow has a new film coming out next month called JOURNEY TO THE WEST and we’re getting a new look at it. Let us know what you think (but it looks like more of the same to me).
Based on one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature of the same name, Stephen Chow’s “Journey To The West” is a contemporary remake of the misadventures of a Buddhist monk as he makes a pilgrimage from China to India. The monk travelled to the “Western Regions” during the Tang Dynasty, to obtain sacred texts (s?tras). The bodhisattva Avalokite?vara (Guanyin), on instruction from the Buddha, gives this task to the monk and his three protectors in the form of disciples – namely Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing – together with a dragon prince who acts as Xuanzang’s steed, a white horse. These four characters have agreed to help Xuanzang as atonement for their past sins
